#Frequently asked questions

  What exactly is attar?

It's a natural perfume oil, made in a special way using steam and water. Most perfumes you know use alcohol as a main liquid. But attar is different. It uses a natural, often woody-smelling oil, like sandalwood oil, as its base or base oil

Think of it like this: you put fragrant things, like rose petals, into a pot with water. When you heat it up, fragrant steam comes out. This steam is then passed through that special base oil. The smell from the steam gets "stuck" in the base oil.

So, attar is like capturing the pure scent of flowers, woods, or even earth, all mixed into a natural, fragrant oil. It's a very old and natural way to make perfume.

How long does the fragrance of attar typically last compared to alcohol-based perfumes?
Oil evaporates much slower than alcohol, the fragrance of attar tends to last much longer on the skin. You can often expect the scent to linger for several hours, and in some cases, even a full day or more.
How should attar be applied for the best experience?

Ensure your hands are clean. Some believe applying attar after a shower, when your skin is slightly moist, can help the scent last longer.

· Gently dab the attar onto your pulse points. These are areas where your blood vessels are close to the surface and generate heat:

Wrists: Apply a tiny dab to the inside of your wrists. Do not rub your wrists together vigorously, as this can break down the fragrance molecules and alter the scent. A gentle tap is sufficient. Behind the Ears: A dab behind each earlobe is another excellent spot, allowing the fragrance to subtly emanate as you move.

Neck: The sides of your neck are also good areas.

Inner Elbows: These are another pulse point that can help diffuse the scent.

· Let it Absorb: Allow the attar to absorb naturally into your skin. There's no need to rub it in.

· Enjoy the Subtle Diffusion: The fragrance will gently unfold throughout the day, reacting with your body heat.

What are the differences between attar, essential oils, and fragrance oils?

attar is made by capturing the scent of flowers, herbs, spices, or even baked earth through a traditional hydro-distillation process.

Essential oil is The pure, concentrated essence extracted from a single type of plant (flowers, leaves, stems, roots, etc.).

Fragrance oil is A blend of synthetic aroma chemicals and sometimes natural essential oils or isolates, created to mimic or create specific scents.
